The second-generation T-Roc has been introduced—a compact but important crossover that emerged not far behind the Golf and has now become one of Volkswagen's best-sellers; more than two million of the previous generation have been sold. Now a larger, more modern, and more capable version is on the line to compete.
Body and design
The new generation is taller and longer: its length has increased by 122 mm to 4373 mm, and its wheelbase has been extended by 28 mm to improve rear legroom. Volkswagen's new design language also creates a modern and luxurious look with LED light strips at the front and rear, illuminated badges and gloss black details on the exterior.
High-quality, digital cabin
Inside, the cabin is minimalist, with large 10.4- and 12.9-inch screens replacing most physical controls; however, the important buttons have been promised to return. The gearshift has also been moved to the steering wheel to create a more secluded tunnel between the seats. In addition, the use of recycled plastics and careful design, with fewer gaps between parts, have elevated the interior quality to a high level.
Hybrid powertrains and technology
From the start, the T-Roc will be offered with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine—with mild hybrid technology in two versions: 114 and 148 horsepower, paired with a DSG gearbox and front-wheel drive. A 2.0-liter all-wheel drive hybrid powertrain will also be offered for more powerful models in the future. Volkswagen has also confirmed the design and development of a full hybrid system (HEV), which will be launched after the introduction of the initial model.
Efficiency, cargo space and market introduction
The car's drag coefficient has been reduced by about 10% compared to the previous model, reaching 0.29, which has made the . The boot space has increased by 20 liters, reaching 465 liters, making it not only more practical, but also more comfortable for daily use. The official launch date of the second-generation T-Roc is scheduled for November 2025 in Europe, and the first generation will continue to be produced in convertible versions until 2027.
