DB12 S; Aston Martin’s new 690 horsepower monster has arrived!

Aston Martin has unveiled a new version of the DB12, dubbed the “S”, that brings power and dynamics to the luxury grand tourer segment. The model will be available in both coupe and volante (open-top) body styles and is scheduled to go on sale in early 2026.

Technical specifications and performance

At the heart of the car is the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the regular model, but for the S model, power has been increased to 690 horsepower (515 kW). Torque reaches 800 Nm between 3,000 and 6,000 rpm.

With these improvements, the 0–60 mph (0–96 km/h) time has dropped to 3.4 seconds, about 0.1 seconds faster than the regular version. Top speed is also reported at 325 km/h (202 mph). To increase responsiveness, the launch control system has been improved and gearshift times have been made about 50% faster.

One of the standout features of this model is the standard carbon ceramic brakes, which reduce unsprung mass and improve braking performance. The suspension setup has also undergone changes; Bilstein DTX dampers with new settings, a thicker rear stabilizer bar, and adjustments to the camber, toe, and toe settings of the wheel geometry have been made to increase agility and stability. In the powertrain department, an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with electronic control and an electronic differential system (E-Diff) work in harmony with other systems.

Exterior design and appearance features

The S model shares the same platform and aluminum body as the DB12, but adds a few visual elements to differentiate it: a wider grille, a dual-layer front splitter, air intakes on the hood, and a fixed rear spoiler with a redesigned diffuser. At the rear, a new quad exhaust system is fitted that enhances the sound output. An optional titanium exhaust is also available, which not only increases the sound but also reduces weight. A red “S” logo appears on the side of the car to make it easier to identify the upgraded version.

Cabin and interior facilities

Inside, buyers will be able to choose from three interior design environments:

Accelerate with a combination of leather and Alcantara

Inspire S semi-aniline with Alcantara

Inspire S full semi-aniline

Inspire S trims feature herringbone stitching and details such as Alcantara on the roof. The rotary drive mode selector, seat belts, contrasting stitching and the “S” logo are also specially designed for this version. The front seats are electrically adjustable with 16-way adjustment, and Carbon Fiber Performance seats are also available as an option to reduce cabin weight.

Conclusion and point of view

The Aston Martin DB12 S is a major step towards the brand's rise to the luxury-performance segment. It's billed as a "Super Tourer" with a boosted engine, more dynamic handling and a bold design.
