The Toyota Corolla, one of the world's best-selling sedans, has once again shown that it has new power even after all these years with a facelift for the 2026 model. The update not only modernizes the car's appearance, but also upgrades its cabin to a more advanced level of technology and comfort.
Exterior design; a combination of modern and sporty
At the front, the 2026 Corolla has a completely redesigned face inspired by Toyota's new design language; a "hammerhead" grille with a narrower central air intake. The headlights with a "C-shaped" light signature and L-shaped fog lamp housing give the car a modern and dynamic look. At the side of the body, new two-tone alloy wheels and a dark piece behind the rear window enhance the sense of elongation and sportiness. At the rear, smoked taillights with a bright red stripe form a unified visual line that completes the design.

Cabin: Futuristic and Smart
Inside the 2026 Corolla, there's a radical transformation. The dashboard and side doors have been redesigned with a new design, while the air vents have been moved up the entire width to give the space a minimalist, modern look. The center console has been widened and features two phone holders, one of which includes wireless charging — a design that reflects Toyota's greater focus on convenience and practicality. The 8.8-inch display behind the steering wheel remains the same as previous models, but the highlight is the 12.9-inch floating screen in the center, the largest display in Corolla history. Another notable change is the removal of physical climate controls — the climate control and climate settings have now been moved to a digital menu, although it's not yet clear whether this will be available in all markets, as some traditional buyers may prefer physical buttons.
Engine and performance
In the Chinese market, the facelifted Corolla uses a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine that produces about 171 horsepower. In the hybrid version, Toyota uses a 1.8-liter Atkinson cycle engine with two electric motors and a new nickel-manganese-cobalt battery. According to Toyota, the combined consumption of this hybrid version is about 4.13 liters per 100 kilometers and its range is estimated to be up to 1,041 kilometers based on the calculations provided.

Safety features and technology
The 2026 Corolla continues to benefit from the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 package, which includes advanced systems such as automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning. One of the important additions in this facelift is the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), which improves safety in everyday driving. In terms of digital, an 8-inch infotainment system display with features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is offered in the base version. Depending on the type, the driver display is also fully digital (for example, the base version has 7 inches and higher types have 12.3 inches).
Market and supply
Although the Corolla facelift was unveiled at the FAW Toyota booth at the Guangzhou Auto Show for the Chinese market, it is not yet clear whether all versions of the facelift will be available in all global markets. In the US market, the base price of the 2026 Corolla has increased by about $400 compared to the previous model, starting at $22,725 for the base LE trim.
