Lotus Eletre Hybrid Introduced; 950 HP Giant with 1000 km Range!

Lotus Eletre Plug-in Hybrid – A New Birth for a Legendary Brand

Lotus, the iconic British brand with a long heritage of building lightweight and exciting sports cars, is taking a new direction. The brand, which is part of China’s Geely Group, is looking to turn a new leaf in its strategy with the Eletre plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model. The car is one of the most notable luxury hybrid SUVs to be launched in the Chinese market and then globally.

Design and dimensions – the same Eletre we know

The plug-in hybrid version of the Eletre has similar dimensions to the all-electric version:

Length: 5103 mm

Width: 2019 mm

Height: 1636 mm

Wheelbase: 3019 mm

Approximate weight: 3,055–3,080 kg

These dimensions place it in the large luxury SUV class, with a dynamic appearance, muscular lines and active aerodynamic design, including a rear spoiler with downforce generation, which reduces the drag coefficient to 0.26.

Platform and Powertrain – 900-volt architecture and power beyond imagination

Lotus has developed the model on its 900-volt “Hyper Hybrid” platform, one of the most advanced hybrid architectures in the world. In addition to allowing for very fast charging, this platform allows the car to move with high power and efficiency.

The plug-in hybrid version, combining a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and a hybrid system, delivers a monster output:
-Combined power of around 952 horsepower
-0-100 km/h acceleration of close to 3 seconds
-Combined range of over 1,000 km
These numbers put the Eletre plug-in hybrid at the top of the luxury performance SUVs.

Advanced batteries and systems

The model will reportedly feature 50 or 70 kWh batteries, which will enable a significant all-electric range depending on the version. It will also feature more advanced driver assistance and road awareness technologies, such as retractable lidar, which will help improve aerodynamics and increase safety.

Lotus Strategy – Green Light for Hybrids

The launch of this model is part of Lotus' strategic shift towards "hybrid super cars." Previously, Lotus's original plan was to move towards full electrification by 2028, but due to declining EV sales and the acceptance of various markets, the brand has changed its course and prioritized investment in hybrid technology.

Conclusion – The beginning of a new Lotus season

The Lotus Electra plug-in hybrid is a milestone in the brand's history, combining outstanding technical power, advanced technology and luxurious design. It is a serious contender in the luxury hybrid SUV class, not only for the Chinese market but also for the global market, and could attract a lot of attention in the near future.
